I've been on Slashdot for more than 10 years, so I think this "Years Read" achievement is only backdated to when achievements came into being.

My first JE was a little over 10 years ago - April 18, 2002. I'm not sure how long I was using this account before I posted that. It's entirely possible it was less than a year and I've had this account for less than 11 years total. Seems longer. Of course I had another account before that and I forgot what it was, abandoned it and started with this one - though I didn't really do anything with the first one but lurk. I can't recall when I joined. 1997? 1998? I don't think I did a JE until 2003, though. Maybe they list from that date.
