Comment It's all about the Expanded Universe (Score 1) 1

Let's stop splitting hairs here... the originals were good, and the prequels weren't the best thing ever... but it's not the main story most people care about. If it weren't for the Expanded Universe and the backstories, and... really the universe as a whole Star Wars wouldn't be near as interesting. The books, games, fan films, etc.. that WEREN'T in the movies make Star Wars so interesting. I'm a huge fan, I live for George's table scraps and even I recognize that the Canon story is weak sauce. It's all about the stuff we don't see, the underworld, the back story with Han and Chewie, the fights Boba Fett has been in with his Bounties. That's the stuff that keeps Star Wars alive. A big thumbs up to the 501st is due as well as other fan clubs etc...

Submission + - When did Star Wars jump the shark? (com.com) 1

stm2 writes: "As a long time /. reader, I saw how Star Wars was considered first as the "best SCIFI story ever" to the "Lucas stole my childhood" rant. This article in the Techreuplic blog goes into the subject and states that the Midi-chlorians are the culprit. It was the Midi-chlorians, Jar Jar Binks, the actors?. When did Star Wars jump the shark?. A bonus question: Did George Lucas redeem himself in Episode III (RotS)?"
