I don't know if your motherboard has one or not, but my motherboard (Asus A7V333) has a built-in thermometer, fan speed thing, mb thermometer. I guess its nice to have if you do overclocking and stuff and you'd like to know that your chip isn't about to catch fire because you've jumped the frequency multiplier higher than your chip can handle.
