Bitcoin, while interesting as a first mover, doesn't represent all cryptocurrency. There are many stable coins (USDC, USDT, UST, MIM). Some are even decentralized and trustless, being managed exclusively via algorithmic smart contracts (UST, MIM). They are universally exchangeable for their fiat equivalent.

Those are technical issues, not properties of cryptocurrency. Harmony One transactions cost fractions of a cent. Cardano is secured using proof-of-stake and uses no more electricity than your cell phone. Are you suggesting that because the first fiat currencies were easily counterfeited, that the whole idea was flawed?

Those are simply technical issues that are currently being worked on, not properties of cryptocurrency. There exist some cryptos today with sub-cent transaction costs. Others use very little energy due to proof-of-stake. Crypto is not some unmoving monolith, it is still rapidly innovating. The first fiat currencies were not immune from counterfeiting, and still aren't today, but were still better than carrying gold and silver around. The fact remains, cryptocurrency performs all the core functions of a currency better than our current system of fiat.

To all the naysayers, cryptocurrency is the evolution of currency. It literally does everything better than fiat, similar to how fiat previously did everything better than gold. From Wikipedia: To fulfill its function, money must have certain properties: Fungibility: its individual units must be capable of mutual substitution (i.e., interchangeability). Durability: able to withstand repeated use. Divisibility: divisible to small units. Portability: easily carried and transported. Cognizability: its value must be easily identified. Scarcity: its supply in circulation must be limited. Conclusion: It is more fungible, durable, divisible, portable, recognizable, and scarce. Cryptocurrency will take over.

Exactly, and the context he said it in matters too. If you watch the full press conference, it's on how to disinfect surfaces - what works, and doesn't. So saying, "And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute" is totally in-line with the topic. Adding, "And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside.." while kinda dumb, is not saying, "Drink Bleach". "Drink Bleach" however, is exactly the headline 100's of media outlets ran with. Who pushed "Bleach" more?
