Nobel Winner Says Internet Might Have Stopped Hitler 290

There can be little doubt that the internet has changed everyday life for the better, but Nobel literature prize winner Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio has upped the ante by saying an earlier introduction of information technology could even have prevented World War II. "Who knows, if the Internet had existed at the time, perhaps Hitler's criminal plot would not have succeeded — ridicule might have prevented it from ever seeing the light of day," he said. I have to agree with him. If England had been able to send a "Stop Hitler Now!" petition to 10 friendly countries, those countries could have each sent it to 10 more friendly countries before the invasion of Poland, and one of history's greatest tragedies might have been averted.

It is so much easier to download the game ... because now most games aren't all that great anymore, instead of dropping 50-60 dollars on something that wasn't worth it. Usually three days after a release, there's a decent crack out for a game ... compared to the people who bought the game that are having trouble trying to activate it or get the game runner when the people who downloaded it are playing it happily ...

I'd have to say that is the greatest game I've played. Great single player, and damn even great multiplayer. I play it for PC and I'm going through my third time around for level 55 (because of reformats). The single player was engaging with the intertwined story line and great arsenal of weapons. That nuke was ... wow ... I dunno if they'll ever make a game as great as this one. CoD5 was just not as engaging.

They shouldn't receive an award for this. I'm sorry, but telling the video game industry they're doing a good job of "keeping inappropriate" content out of the hands of children is both a slap in the face to the parents that should be watching what their kids are buying, and a slap in the face to the kids who buy these games hoping for something interesting, only to find talking frogs, barbie, and games where everybody gets along and wins -- when they're 14! Why can they go see a few hundred zombies get set on fire, shot at, or otherwise die in the theatre (as long as they're all non-smoking zombies), but can't get the same thing in a video game? This entire idea of "for the sake of the children" has gone too far when children aren't encouraged to take risks and make their own decisions. These "appropriate" video games... I've seen them -- They suck so hard they're in danger of forming an event horizon.

My 12 year old kid sister has been fed a steady diet of these "positive self-esteem" books, videos, and games. Last year I tried to show her Happy Feet (it's a movie, look it up) and she couldn't get past the halfway point because that's where the penguin "got sad". I tried showing her some "real" video games, only to have mom come down on me like a ton of bricks... So it's back to watching bubbles with numbers in it and talking animals. And then mom (and other parents from Generation "Precious Snowflake") wonders why she has no inclination to read, write, do her homework, clean up after herself, or even brush her teeth...

Well, duh... it's because she's being fed sanitized crap that is the electronic equivalent of valium every day!

Well the only reason that they think video game violence causes all sorts of mental illnesses are because of these bullshit studies ... I've played violent video games since I was like 7 or 8 ... I have yet to kill someone.

Maybe if they weren't abusing the hell outta the pedals. Don't wear boots or anything on it and it won't break. I've used my old pedal since I got it in February and it still hasn't broke in half ... no signs of breaking either. I got my new drumset so I can use the old one for backup. This lawsuit is stupid imo.
