Kids missed out on a lot of socialisation during the lockdown era and I'd estimate that adults today spend considerably less time on average in conversations than a decade ago - verbal skills just seem to be in decline, maybe hastened by the move to typing rather than talking? Just a thought. The limited verbal skills added to the lack of filter that social media brings enhances my perception that society is becoming stupid!

I know people don't routinely go out with their colleagues for beers so much nowadays, in fact if you believe Reddit then socialising with colleagues would be insane behaviour. 'Enshittification' is just capitalism isn't it? Examples - I buy a gardening fork or a pair of branded jeans or a tin opener. The versions from 30 years ago were well made but now they're cheap crap made by offshore factories. People doing manual jobs are familiar with the process of enshittification, even if the symptoms are slightly different
