Comment Re: Holding our breath (Score 1) 115

Reiterating here that a simple solution is to use quicklime, as in CaO -- It reacts with CO2 to form chalk, calcium carbonate, Just spray a fine mist of this stuff from a high altitude and as it settles it grabs the carbon dioxide out of the air and poof, chalk; since creating the CaO requires energy, pay for it by recovering the chalk, compressing it using renewable energy, and selling it a something

Comment Carbon Capture idea - Quicklime (Score 1) 115

What about quicklime, as in CaO? This stuff pulls carbon dioxide right out of the air and binds it into chalk?? Just spray this into a fine mist from a high altitude and as it settles it would react with the carbon dioxide in the air to produce chalk dust that could be recovered, compressed and packaged as something else...

According to some sources I know there's been a policy to put out fires caused by lightning strikes, as such this is caused a great deal of pine straw to build up and dry out in areas ... feet of this stuff exists in some places, causing fires to burn hotter and longer, causing soil glassification (fusing the silica crystals into glass) that is killing the soil making it much harder for the forests to regenerate ....

Comment Affordable housing is just more houses (Score 1) 99

The problem is people want to live either where it is nice, or within 30 minutes of work. This creates a supply and demand issue as supply dwindles the demand doesn't, so prices sky-rocket Solution: Get rid of roads, no roads no cars no cars no parking lots / garages, and a whole list of other side stuff related to vehicles. All the extra free space then can be put to building more, but unfortunately people don't want to live near "affordable housing" its a NIMBY (not in my backyard) issue... Or as another thought, don't have a large physical campus, rather tell everyone to work from home or wherever .... then people will buy where there's no supply issues, since no more daily commute
