Comment Those who do not learn from history... (Score 1) 1238

are doomed to repeat it. Whats one of the main reasons the pilgrims came to America? Escape from religious persecution! That's it. I'm homeschooling my future kids. Fuck this shit. What happened to separation of church and state? There never was any. If this "purge" gets approved (and I hope it doesn't) I'm hoping the supreme court would do something about this... How is this even legal!? This isn't rational, this isn't sane. This is true lunacy! but I digress. Odds are it won't pass, but this really gets me pissed. Believe in what you want, that's fine. But start pushing it on others or secretly slipping it to their kids through what should be basic education and now you've crossed the line.

Okay, suggest this to him; you try it for a month. Then when he sees that the amount of mistakes in your code have increased he will be forced to accept that music players do help and therefore he has no argument on the matter so he will then have to reinstate the previous policy of music players being acceptable.

[sarcasm] Break out the tin foil hats everyone. Those Wi-Fi rays will melt your brain! [/sarcasm] Seriously this "Wi-Fi is bad for everything" b/s needs to stop. We've got more pressing matters like how other idiots want their government to tell their kids what they can and can't play on their consoles/computers. There is no proof that Wi-Fi actually does anything to you. God, this is as bad as the old microwave oven emits radiation myth.

The technology has also been proven dangerous, why do you think microwave ovens have switches built in to turn the oven off when the door is opened? Would you step in a human scaled one and let someone turn it on?

What proof? Show me this proof of which you speak. Not to mention go watch mythbusters. They covered microwaves. Microwaves are safe. They use electromagnetic radiation this form of radiation is harmless the type you and the garlic farmer are thinking of is Ionizing radiation. Oh about that switch? Thats a child safety feature you idiot. You don't want your kid opening the door while its on and emitting heat do you?

Exactly, another point to add is that we shouldn't have to pay for information. I agree I happen to be an American who hates all the news agencies here, have you seen Fox or NBC lately? They really do sensationalize. An example would be an incident last year where a dog found a hand grenade in a woman's backyard. They found out that it was from World War II (being that there are many old air bases here in Florida) and it just wound up there. Bomb squad took it to a demo area and detonated it. Meanwhile, NBC reports it as "Dog digs up grenade in backyard of florida resident, nobody knows where it came from." If thats not sensationalism I don't know what is. Anyway, enough ranting on that subject. I totally agree with what your saying about this guy, he just wants competition. Nothing good has ever come from someone who owns a conglomerate and claims they want justice. If I'm wrong about that then give me a real event that occurred within the last 3 years and I'll take it back. -- Socialism does not exist. Fox just wants you to be afraid.

These are the people who said they "kind of have to" monetize certain features of battle net (source: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/blizzards-wilson-some-battle-net-features-to-be-monetized/ ) As if even they are being hit by this recession, but we know they make more than enough on wow alone ($15.98/mo x 11,000,000 players = $175,780,000 per month x 12 months in a year = $2,109,360,000 per year. minus about $250,000,000 due to larger subcription deals) then they turn around and announce that they are making a live action warcraft movie directed by Sam Raimi? (source: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/22/aicn-sam-raimi-set-to-direct-world-of-warcraft-movie/ ) So let me get this straight.... you "kind of have to" bitch slap all of the Starcraft and Diablo fans to impress your warcraft followers? We wait years for sequels only to have LAN stripped and a new Battle.net that isn't exactly free.... While the in the same amount of time the warcraft people got warcraft 3 plus its own expansion and an MMO plus several expansions to that MMO now a delay due to bnet. I'd like to quote some fellow Slashdot users on blizzard's actions "Blizzard right now reminds me of Sony three years ago. Drunk with success, and making every wrong decision." - Toonol "Blizzard flat out has made a *stupid* call that serves *no* purpose. It costs them *nothing* to implement LAN play and in fact this very well could *increase* the chances their game gets pirated, because the pirated game will eventually have LAN play. Blizzard issued a challenge and the crackers of the world are going to take it up." - Cowmonaut
