Journal SolemnDragon's Journal: It's morning even in Hell, so shut up and pass the tea. 14

Ugh. I stayed up too late last night. My own fault. I'm paying for it. Feel like i've been kicked by a horse. a very large, angry horse. *sigh* Quite possibly a rugby-playing equine, with a grudge against my call in the last match. Maybe Wicked and that camel of hers were out getting into trouble on their off hours and it carried over.

Anyway, good morning.

Happy freaking not-Valentine's-Day-Anymore. I hereby name this day "Survival Day," dedicated to all of us who made it through another valentines day intact. We eat the chocolates, we shred the flowers, we go on with our lives. We scoff at the diamond-wearing office ladies and remember that truth has a bite to it no matter how lovely a truth it is. And so do dragons. *CHOMP!!!*

So i've been sushi free for a bit, and yeah, it's starting to get to me, i'd made it a regular food in my diet, the vegetarian kind. I'd been exploring adding fruit- cucumber and peach sushi is AWESOME.

But here i am, and it's time for my morning prayers. Bestfriend gave up chocolate this year, not to make herself a better person, but because it's a fast and that's how it works, she's fasting till Ostara. She's really, really looking forward to having chocolate back and is amazed by how she took it for granted.

I love my best friend. She rocks.

*YAWWWWN* Mornings don't rock. Mornings are awful. Whose idea was this???

It's raining, which will melt the snow, and that makes me happy.

Today i'm going to wear the new suit, the green one, the one with the skirt slightly too short. Ever since December's events i have been uncomfortable with revealing clothing, and this suit makes me uncomfortable, but it is within the realm of what i would ordinarily have worn, so i'm going with it. I will get my confidence back, i think this is just going to take practice.

Even kitten isn't in the mood for the usual morning madness, she just rolled her eyes at me, sighed, and came to curl up on my lap for fifteen minutes, purring. Usually there's running around, yelling at me to get breakfast, that sort of thing. This morning? Yeah. She's curled up on the couch, scowling at the rain.

I do have some awesome news. Solemnfans is back in the works. So there can be newsletters and tshirts. I am thrilled, i am working slowly on getting things written and designed. It's happening, largely with the help of a couple of awesome fans who have NOT taken it upon themselves to work with my stuff, but simply taught me a few things that are helping immensely. And the SDSDFC had gotten too busy to ever confirm the registration of the domain, which i hadn't known, so that's been taken care of. Details like that are coming together, and the SDSDFC mantle is now being passed on to several people who wanted it.There's a redirect at solemnfans.org, but if you click it, i can ask how many times it's been poked at and thus gauge if there's still enough interest to work on giving something back to the people who read the Twins... and by the way, i might try coming up with a catchier name.

er... so is anybody still interested in a newsletter with extra episodes and stuff?

Yes, this means it's time for me to get my ass in gear and start publishing episodes WEEKLY again!!!!

(on the weekend, y'all, my darlings. Look for them on the weekend.)

  • Made the mistake of opening up one, then two bottles of wine last night.... Argh, my head hearts. Of course, I have a red eye to Boston this morning. Five minutes till they start boarding, no upgrade from meat space yet. Rain makes this perfect...

  • Well, not so much that as she doesn't really have a tired, staggering to find the coffee pot mode. She's either AWAKE or asleep. There's not much in between.

And if I don't walk fast enough to let her out in the morning, she nips my calves.

That's enough to wake anyone up.

but OMFG there was a grrl on the train in over the knee boots and... OMFG I love cold rainy days.
  • Got out of the shower to find out that Tarot, the eldest cat, decided today was a good day for a hairball. Gigi, the kitten, looked on with sheer delight as she played with a catnip sock. Another typical day in our house.

It is sunny though, high of almost 60 today, so it could get better. I'm still waiting for this Mountain Dew to kick in...gawd I feel like I could sleep for another 3 hours.

  • Partly cloudy today, supposed to be a high of around 75. :-) I had a good day yesterday, despite circumstances. And today looks like a good one too. Nothing to survive, though I have more of a morning-after effect from beer than I used to. That Fat Tire goes down too easily. :-) Oh, and the February Crypto-Gram just made it past the spam filters. Time to read!
  • until about 9 a.m. when the Dense Heavy Fog lifts. At least the coffee is do-able this morning. The dogs have the right idea, eat and go back to sleep, it is a lazy morning.

  • with the skirt slightly too short. :D that's just the way I like them but then I get stuck in the trying not to look directly at said skirt that is a bit too short, vs looking away completely, because my eyes will wander otherwise ^_^;;;
  • Any and all episodes for the twins are welcome! I've been bad and haven't made it a regular practice to check the web site for updates. :-(
(note to self: Bookmark the twins website.)

As for the weather, a cold crisp morning with a bright, cold sunny day ahead! (not your typical pacific northwet weather)

    ^_^

  • Today went well. Yesterday I was beset by horrible back spasms and sinus infections. Yesterday I was committed to working though, as today I had a presentation to give. Just a departmental mini-symposium but that meant silverbacks so I needed to be prepared.

Sick and tired I built my presentation yesterday: novel animation, 38 Powerpoint slides, 50 minutes. Right on the money. Some minor questions but my scientific ethic kept the expectations and results modest. Humble, so there was no need to dance

Any program which runs right is obsolete.

Working...
