I don't get the US' fixation of surreal consecutive prison sentences... The DA just stacks dozens of charges that add up to some fantasy years in prison. Then offers a plea bargain so the perp gets reduced prison time that would still be an unusually cruel punishment in every other developed nation on earth. Gotta feed the slave labor private prisons. Freedom justice to the max!!

It is the other way around. The Democrats look only left when you are very far to the right. When you grow up outside the indoctrination that there are only "two sides" and "the other party" then there IS NO left in the US. If you gauge the political leaning of two parties, of course one will be more to the left than the other but you lack a proper frame of reference when there is only one other party to compare it to.
