A couple of pointless, endless wars and the economy being turned into a modern Gulag has apparently motivated many young Americans to find a way out any way they can. An unfortunate consequence of American pop culture is that when a young American tries to flee to another country the people there can't believe why a crazy American would leave because they all think Americans live in Beverly Hills (and indeed many foreigners have only seen rich, arrogant Americans vacationing). This rejection exacerbates the problem of being accepted anywhere else besides the fact the US government itself charges over $4,000 for American to purchase their freedom and renounce their citizenship which leaves the person percariously stateless anyway.
