I think what you mean is if, when searching at Google, they recommended their product Google Chrome as a browser, in which case it would be normal and expected. If, however, while using Google Docs on Internet Explorer or Edge, Google installed an add-in that forced the search engine to change to Google, then you'd have an apples to apples comparison.

intimate familiarity with a subject. There are singularities, but generally an inventor will have closely studied a related field and have a wealth of knowledge on a related subject. In other words, the only way to teach kids to invent is to allow them to focus on their passions. Don't try to guide them to a result, but encourage them to follow their own interests.

You should learn about NTFS and ACLs. He's thinking creatively, and it's not that bad an idea. "Read-only with caveats" might make more sense. Slight change to ACLs, special context in which certain applications can run...I mean, it would only be a matter of time before attackers compromise that, but that's the name of the game in data security. Just get one more step ahead of attackers.
