"If you can't read this code, you don't belong here". I've done my best to document under pressure, having survived waterfalls and agile-like ("we're not doing it right" say the scrum masters). However, there's nothing like code walk-throughs with juniors and seniors to pass the relevant information and getting challenged and having to explain why this works properly although it's just a bit outside some outdated coding standard. I've written tons of documents with proper grammar and drawings and pictures but they become obsolete days after and management wants to deliver "on time" and docs never get properly updated because another project rears its head. Having been a TA in college, I'm used to writing on the whiteboard all sorts of explanations (which sometimes got photographed and appended to a doc) but those were the moments when the other juniors (and seniors) finally understood and eventually applied/accepted my explanations. The give and take in front of a whiteboard has been invaluable.
