I did something like this a couple years ago. I "married" an obviously fake girl I created on Facebook. My ads internet wide quickly switched from "singles" ads to mortgages and retirement ads (with a smattering of child education savings thrown in). A couple months later I "divorced". That brought on the lawyer ads, and a fresh onslaught of singles.
I've been Facebook free for a while now, but the screen captures I grabbed and posted while doing this provided a lot of amusement for my friends.

Submission + - Chevy Volt Meets High Resistance, GM Suspends Sales
Hugh Pickens writes writes: "The Hill reports that GM has announced to employees at one of its facilities that it is suspending production of the Chevy Volt for five weeks and temporarily laying off 1,300 employees. Back when GM launched the beleaguered electric car, it boldly targeted sales of 10,000 in 2011 and 60,000 in 2012 but GM only sold 7,671 Volts in 2011 and just 1,626 so far this year. "We needed to maintain proper inventory and make sure that we continued to meet market demand," says GM spokesman Chris Lee. "We see positive trends, but we needed to make this market adjustment." Although President Obama promised he would buy a Volt "five years from now, when I'm not president anymore" the Volt has come under criticism from Republicans in Congress because of reports of its batteries catching on fire during testing. Ironically, the shut down comes as gas prices are soaring, exactly the time when an electric car should be an easy sell. That's clearly not the case with the Chevy Volt meeting high resistance with the car buying public."
GOG.com Not Really Gone 276
gspr writes "On Sunday, Slashdot and many others reported that DRM-free games site GOG.com was shutting down. Now the site is back, revealing that it was all a hoax. According to the site: 'Now it's time we put an end to all the speculations once and for all. It's true that we decided that we couldn't keep GOG.com the way it was so we won't. As you probably know by now, GOG.com is entering its new era with an end of the two-years beta stage and we're launching a brand new GOG.com with new, huge releases.' So it was all an advertising stunt."
Study Shows Standing Up To Bullies Is Good For You 458
It will come as no surprise to anyone who's ever talked to my grandpa, but a recent study has shown that standing up to a bully is good for you. Although being bullied can be stressful and lead to depression, children who returned hostility were found more likely to develop healthy social and emotional skills. From the article: "In a study of American children aged 11 and 12, researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles, compared those who stood up to aggressors with those who did not. Children who returned hostility with hostility appeared to be the most mature, the researchers found. Boys who stood up to bullies and schoolyard enemies were judged more socially competent by their teachers. Girls who did the same were more popular and more admired by teachers and peers, the researchers found."
