Governments rarely do anything themselves. They usually hire private corporations. I don't see that a government is any more trustworthy than the companies they hire.

What rights are being squelched? If you post something on social media, you don't have a right to privacy. Is there a right to not be monitored? I am not a Brit so I don't know what rights they have.

Every 4 to 8 years NASA keeps having its mission changed. So much waste of money canceling programs because a new President wants something else. Also, because of what appears to be incompetence at companies like Boeing. President Trump has advocated sending humans to mars at least since 2019 so it isn't entirely Elon Musk influencing him. I've always been in favor of robotic exploration versus human. It's many times less expensive. Still, as long as we stick with the same mission for longer than one President, I'll take it.

If Climate Change is part of the theme or plot of the movie, sure. For instance, a post-apocalyptic movie could include Climate Change as the cause or our reaction to Climate Change could be the cause. I don't need gratuitous mention of Climate Change. I don't see movies for politics or social commentary especially being preached at.

I wonder if anyone can, for a moment, consider that the person that used that phrase "thin blue line" wasn't using it as code for his fascist belief. I have known that phrase all my life. Many TV programs as I grew up used it. I stay away from political discussions as much as I can. I had no idea the phrase was used that way.

I bet they would have voted to put controls on their classmates who were smarter than they were.
