The US ain't doing anything but legitimizing crypto. Look around: it's taxed now. Institutions and biz are adopting it. ETF's are coming out. Mining is getting more and more green every day.

There is no bottling-back-up of the blockchain genie, try as you might, it's here to stay. It will only grow.

Regulation is coming but it won't be to kill off crypto, rather it will be to further legitimize it IMO.

In the past month we've found out that psilocybin is at least as effective as an anti-depressant and now that MDMA appears to work for PTSD. Backups help with the encrypted data, sure, but backups don't do shit if your data has been stolen before being encrypted. They are diversifying more and more now beyond just encrypting. Recently the DC Police were hit and threats made to leak internal data including that on informants.

Can anyone speak on whether this is the first of its kind? I'm not aware of ransomware gangs targeting LEO before and threatening to expose their informants. This is quite an escalation I'd say.
