September 05 I moved to TalkTalks 'unlimited broadband' with a 12 month contract. Within a month they'd blocked all bittorrent and limewire traffic and capped my HTTP download speeds. I remember having a big argument with someone from customer support about the definition of a limit - they kept telling me they impose restrictions instead of limits. At one point I laughed in the guys face.

From the article: "As a tool for exploring how standards are set when new technologies hit the market, the browser wars exhibit many features we like to study: competition between two viable alternatives, rapidly improving technologies, the ability of firms to use strategic levers such as market power and channels of distribution, growth in demand leading to diffusion of the new technology through the population, and uncertainty. Maxxus has a patched version of Skype that allows 10-way calling regardless of the processor installed. There's also info about the patch: "The patch is the result of two phases: code analysis and design of the patch. The code analysis, or reverse engineering, reveals the relevant code block, which overrides Skype's limitation for Intel's dual-core CPUs. The patch design isolates the minimal set of instructions that need to be modified to cancel this limitation." Windows only so far."
