Do have a look at the BUG mod if you have Beyond the Sword. It doesn't change gameplay, but adds a large amount of interface improvements that make the game much more convenient to play.
The rule on staying alive as a program manager is to give 'em a number or give 'em a date, but never give 'em both at once.
