I know it isn't a favorite these days, but I think one of the most under-rated and consistently enjoyable series this year (as well as the past few) has been Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. While it's adolescent sibling Voyager has been boldly going where the Jupiter 2 has gone before, DS9 has been building on a universe of politics, religion, and Trek nostalgia that is evenly managed and more than a little fun. They've explored their war with the dominion (and the maneuverings of Weyoun and Gul Dukat), Golden era SF in "Far Beyond the Stars", and out-and-out camp in "The Magnificent Ferengi".
After hating this show in its debut season, I've come to relish it more than any other incarnation of Trek thanks to the hard work and broad story arcs that have fleshed out one tiny corner of the Star Trek universe in exquisite detail.
