...and it ended up hurting asthma sufferers. Back in the early 2000s, I believe, the CFC propellant was replaced with HFA, an inferior and less forceful propellant that is unfortunately often mixed with ethanol. The result was that most patients complained that their inhalers were no longer working. Indeed, the propellant wasnâ(TM)t as forceful and thus was not delivering the quick-relief medication as effectively; additionally, many asthmatics reacted adversely to the atomized ethanol, causing paradoxical bronchospasm. Great job everyone, you just caused an already sick segment population to worsen so that we can âoesave the environmentâ. And just so you know, there are no âoegreenerâ alternatives for quick-relief medications. If youâ(TM)re having an asthma attack, I assure you that youâ(TM)re not giving half a fuck about the ozone layer. This article is absurd in its ignorance of basic medical facts and the seriousness of asthma in general. Itâ(TM)s irresponsible to even suggest to ask your doctor about these things because if the articleâ(TM)s author did any basic research, theyâ(TM)d know this already. Nobody in this entire chain is to blame except, MAYBE the pharmaceutical companies for not making âoegreenerâ alternatives, but who knows what the technical challenges are.
