It seems the controversy comes from people not using Python..its like people arguing that a bicycle should have more than 2 wheels otherwise you fall over..its not that the arguments are necessarily wrong, its just that in practice they are not very relevant..you adjust to it and once you know how to bike its perfectly natural and effortless..

Comment Re:did they fix the indentation nonsense yet? (Score 1) 205

I can explain this very easily for you: the reason why it is so popular is because the broken bits are offset by a huge margin by the nice bits, But frankly what is baffling is that there apperently there are still huge tribes hung up on the whitespace thing. Just accept that you have less freedom with the formatting, don't do tabs and watch out for the few gotcha's that can happen. For the rest all the complaints about it are complete non-issues, bit like complaining that there is no proper way to put a saddle on a car.

Comment Re:Where is the uncertainty? (Score 1) 68

not really, the uncertainty in e.g. the local circular velocity is in the second digit.. furthermore the navigation errors quoted in the paper depend on the relative positions of 20 or so nearby star and their relative motion depends on the local mass distribution, which is also poorly constrained (error in the first digit)
