this is a dumb argument. It's like saying "the man flew on a plane from China to the USA but then tripped on the stairs on the way into his apartment? not very likely" - just because he used a technology to get there, doesn't mean he created it, knows how it works, any of that.. maybe it autopilots through space but the user has to take control in the air? maybe they just commonly crash in the last "mile" of their journey like humans, regardless, it's a bad argument. I don't think aliens or alien spacecraft have visited earth, but the "how could they travel space but then crash here" argument doesnt hold much merit for me

China has done more modern ballistics test than the US has and is way better shape in that regard. They never signed onto the bans that stop us from testing that stuff, and boy do they test it often. I follow the PLA pretty closely and they're much better equipped and trained than I thought they were. I still think America wins if we enter conflict, but it will be anything but one-sided like many Americans think it could be. Just remember, they wont fight us on our land, they'll be fighting us in the pacific with us trying to use Japan and Korea as our area of operations. They'll have the homefield advantages (closer supply lines, etc.) Let's pray that it never gets that far and we can passively aggressively keep up this bullshit posturing forever without any violence (more realistic than becoming friends probably.)

The earth has expanded 2x since the time of the dino's? Excuse me, what??? I googled this and found no evidence of the sort. If anything NASA among other agencies have shown this is not the case just confusion from the 60s when they discovered plate tectonics. LOL at the idea that dinsoaurs were big because there was less gravity though :) https://www.popularmechanics.c...

just means we need better optimization, 600 seconds to 1 second. I've seen database queries go from 600 seconds to nanoseconds with the right indexes. Maybe also limits in hardware as well (particularly in energy efficiency not speed) maybe silicon based neural networks will eventually be organic like ours are.

while this is true, that doesn't mean that we need to understand how the wiring and compiling works to make a new baby. The same could be said for AGI. We may not need to understand how it works in order to create it, we may just exploit existing natural frameworks (growing organic neural networks from animal/human stem cells or something?) and train it on the same data we train babies with and it might 'magically' develop intelligence on it's own just like babies do? who knows.. I think it's pretty safe to say though that understanding what conscious or intelligence is, isn't required to create said things (as obvious by our own lack of understanding yet ability to create.)

are you saying that some other human is building drones that can go faster than the speed of sound without breaking the sound barrier? because that's what many of the "observations" detail. Things moving at insane speeds and making right hand turns, blah blah. Stuff that defy physics. It's one thing to say there are humans making fancier drones than us, it's another to say they're breaking the known laws of physics.
