It's funny that all the Android users think that Apple users care about innovation so much. We don't. Our phones last for years and years and the tech gets pretty stale in that time, but we still love using it and so don't care. Android users on the other hand are always out shopping for a new phone, because they are just so darn cheap.. and are always checking does it support Gemini 15.7.9.1? Does it give me 6giga pixels of lens and AI retouching so I can post to all my followers on Instafuckwhateva.. does it support some Rando Codex no one has ever heard of because it saves 1 kb of storage on mah vidyos and might become a 'standard' in 8 years (I.e installed on 10 other Android phones)

If you worked in technology for any large company around the world I am quite sure you get the phishing test emails? The number of 'smart people' clicking on those pretty obvious scams should underline their concerns.. Also, it's never been about opening it up for the 'poor abused' consumer .. it's governments that were locked out harder than they cared for and want it opened up for their own 1984 crap..

There are literally hundreds of groups of well organised smart people actively trying to find ways to get software loaded on to your phone for less than honest purposes. The more the ecosystem opens up, the easier it is for them to accomplish their goals, regardless of how smart you think you are. Just this week news dropped of big tech actively exploiting an Android issue to track you 'smart users' outside the 'safe sandbox' it provides. I really do wish Apple would fork their OS and segregate the hardware for people who do opt in to the walled garden.. the rest of you can go play in your free space with no claims back about lost privacy and data

This is the same daft argument about e-bikes.. ughh, they make you lazy, ughh, it's not real exercise... when the truth is it's a lot faster and a lot more fun and a whole bunch of exercise you probably normally wouldn't have done. AI has issues sure, but it's the only way that you are going to solve next generation problems. Kids need to learn those skills and raise the bar.

Because a.) it's not a computer, it's my trusted personal device, and b.) that was the agreement in place when I bought and paid for it. Governments are now intervening and changing my relationship with my device which I don't care for in this instance. I get that it is not the same for you.. but those are my reasons. My iPhone is not my chosen platform for playing Fortnite, I would rather it locked down.
