The highlights are: It is a pocket-sized projector which runs on batteries and can project images and videos from a variety of sources like iPhone, iPod and DVD players with a 480x320px resolution, with a maximum screen size of 65 inches at 8.5 feet. It uses a non-replaceable 10,000 hour LED lamp and a DLP chip from Texas Instruments. The battery lasts for 90 minutes and can be recharged through USB or with its own power cord. The device weighs 115g and comes with an inbuilt speaker which is practically useless. If you want one, it will set you back by $430."

Maybe this is a delayed reaction to the bribery scandal from a few weeks ago over the OOXML adoption and the screwup of the OOXML adoption itself. I can see where a bribery scandal that could be traced back to high-level executives could pose serious problems for MS in Europe.

An anonymous reader writes: Researchers from the Nanomaterials Research Centre at Massey University in New Zeeland have developed synthetic dyes that can be used to generate electricity at one tenth of the cost of current silicon-based solar panels. These photosynthesis-like compounds work in low-light conditions and can be cheaply incorporated into window-panes and building materials, thereby turning them into generators of electricity.

They join Google which recently announced the support of GeoRSS and KML mapping in their Google Maps API. In short, GeoRSS is a standard supported by the Open Geospatial Consortium that incorporates geolocation in an interoperable manner to RSS feeds. The applications are numerous. With Yahoo!'s support of GeoRSS, all the major players are in and the future looks bright for this emerging standard. As for KML, Google Earth's file format, this new Google Maps integration is not unrelated to the recent announcement of internet-wide KML search capabilities within Google Earth. What is to stop some government official from harassing people in to turning over keys to their files? Governmental corruption is not unheard of. Seems like a slippery slope to me. Nibble away at freedom a little bit at a time and no one will notice. Hell, you might even get some backers if you say it is to fight terrorism. Look at the US Patriot Act!
