I'm another person who can recommend Teamviewer... lots of support options, on the supportee's end there's a quick support (no install) version, and a full install which can be accessed at the Windows login screen. On the supporter's side there's also lots of options, including an IM type client manager and you can also log into their website and use a Flash version of the software which has most of the features and is surprisingly lag-less. It also supports rebooting into safe mode which I've mostly had success with. Your client list can be made up of either/both Teamviewer ID's (unique to a PC - what I use) or a Teamviewer account name.

Dell Rugged Laptops Not Quite Tough Enough 225

An anonymous reader writes "Trusted Reviews has put the new Dell XFR rugged laptop through the grinder and it hasn't fared as well as expected. Considering that these guys drove a car over a Panasonic Toughbook, they went pretty easy on the Dell, but it still couldn't take the punishment. It looks like Dell still has a way to go to steal the ball from Panasonic when it comes to all terrain computing."

Sony Sued Over Bricked PS3s 438

Zarrot writes "If Sony's recent 3.00 PS3 firmware update bricked your console, you may now have legal recourse thanks to a class action suit against Sony. The complaint alleges that thousands of users (PDF) were affected by the update, and in some cases the PS3 hardware itself was damaged. It continues, 'For owners who sustained hardware damage from the Sony-required update, Sony is charging a $150 repair fee per unit. Sony, responding to the numerous complaints about the unacceptable effects of the defective update, released a further, optional update that it claimed "improves system stability" — yet performance problems continued, and the new update did nothing to remedy the systems of users who sustained hardware damage."'"

Brian Eno Releases Second iPhone App 196

Brian Eno, or as he is known to many in my office, "God," has released his second iPhone App. A followup to Bloom, this one is called Trope and supposedly creates darker music. You create music by drawing shapes on the iPhone's screen.
