The Movie Industy is out of touch. They're stuck with an outdated distribution model that they want everyone to use.
The reality of geographical monopolies (exclusive distribution rights) is laughable for the internet.
It would make more sense to offer a commission on each refer link that a browser has than try to force people to use a specific site that is local to something that is not relevant. If I have a Netflix account with a billing address is in California, but I'm in the UK for the week, why is it that I cannot watch a Netflix show. How does this rob or in any way adversely affect Netflix? Note -- I don't mean to pick on Netflix any more/less than Amazon, Comcast, CBS, etc.
