First they came for the CLI, and I did not speak out—
Because mouses were cute.

Then they came for the floppy drive, and I did not speak out—
Because I had already gone hard.

Then they came for the optical drive, and I did not speak out—
Because I got my movies from the Pirate Bay.

Then they came for the mechanical keyboard on my phone, and I did not speak out—
Because I have fat fingers.

Then they came for Flash, and I did not speak out—
Because I was busy dealing with a Flash ad virus.

Then they came for the headphone jack — and I can't really be bothered

Remember their first bashing -- for removing the command line interface in favor of a GUI and mouse. Remember when they removed the floppy drive. Remember when they removed the optical drive Remember when they removed the mechanical keyboard on phones Remember when they removed Flash from phones. Now, they're removing the headphone jack. They're going to do more things like this. It's what they do to build what they believe are better machines. Building what they believe are better machines is how they make money.

Of course there is. However, big pharma, while always lobbying against marijuana legalization, has dramatically increased their funding since it became legal in some states. They have a lot to lose. They make a boat load of money pushing medicines with far nastier side effects than marijuana has. More than just big pharma, though, it's also the Private Prison Industry that's dumping money into anti-legalization. How messed up is that? The Private Prison Industry is actually spending money promoting laws to increase or maintain high prison populations. Go Capitalism!

Comment Re:Dumb watch (Score 1) 175

I think this has more to do with bad labeling. A smart watch isn't really a watch. It tells you the time, but if that's all it did, you'd just keep using your old dumb watch. We only call them watches, because the term, watch, is a familiar label for something we wear on our wrist. If the machine that you wear on your wrist didn't tell time, and it's only function was controlling the appliances and technical devices as they exist now, no one would expect them, or more importantly want them, to last longer than the appliances or technical devices that they control.
