What about car2go, ZipCar, Communauto, and others that are full car-sharing? Not mentioned at all. These are just car rental companies with more liability on the renter/owner vs having protections you would get through a normal rental company (e.g. most credit cards cover rental car insurance but not something like this). Also, you have to pay for gas and parking so $-wise and convenience-wise very comparable to traditional rental companies. Instead of dealing with a company you deal with a regular person. Something like car2go or Communauto where it is all automated, gas is paid, parking is paid, still cheaper than car rentals, and you can pick up a car from almost anywhere in the city... is a lot quicker and easier to use. You just pick up and go. Same idea as the bike/scooter sharing systems. That's the real future of car-sharing. Remove the human interaction, automate the whole process.
