Journal Saint Aardvark's Journal: Weekend Update 4

So we bought the townhome...something I keep forgetting that folks don't know about, since my normally on-the-ball wife has not yet written about this. (We have a good division of labour: I write about computers, and she writes about everything else.) So far our biggest screw-up has been asking for a possession date of April 1st, when we have to be out of our apartment the day before. Oops. Oh well, we'll make it work.

I'll be storing Thornhill at a friend's place (thanks, John!) for a few days around the move. I've got, what, 8 domains on it at the moment for friends and family. Amazing what you can get a poor, underworked Sempron to do these days. :-)

Still working on getting Xen working, but it's going slowly with all the house stuff. I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed; it's very, very neat to just fire up a new machine and have at it.

  • This is the kind of date management Sharon and I had to work around when we moved to our new townhouse in Pitt Meadows. Though it worked out for us, we just stayed with her parents for a month. eh... never again.

If you have to, you could rent a moving van big enough for everything and move out March 31. Stay at a friend's (or hotel) that night with everything in the van. Then move in April 1st. April Fool's Day?

Hope it all goes well! Congrats again! Have you picked out a name for the baby?
    • Yep, April Fool's Day. We're trying to se if the sellers'll let us in a day early, but the mover has said that he can keep our stuff for a day. Clara's parents are in Burnaby, so it shouldn't be a problem to stay for a night there. And we don't have that much stuff, really, so no problem getting a van big enough.

      Names: still kicking 'em around.

How's life at Dowco these days?

      • Yeah, we found names to be tough to pick out. We didn't want anything trendy (like Britney - shudder) we like the more classic names. Olivia was nameless for a couple days since we were convinced we were having a boy and weren't ready with a girl name. Since we don't want to know the sex of the baby till its born, I suspect we'll just kick a few names around and finally decide once he/she is born. After all, its one of the few true surprises in life and it really doesn't matter what the sex is - to us anywa
