Comment Re:DD-WRT works, but Linksys WRT54GS chokes 21 Mbp (Score 1) 257

The Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH works for me, with openwrt firmware that is. The default firmware is some kind of modified dd-wrt which has an awful "buffalo" interface and kept dropping packets. I tried dd-wrt as well but that gave the same problem with the choked bandwidth (in contrast with the buffalo firmware), the openwrt firmware is pretty easy to set up on this router and works perfectly for me, allowing the full use of my 120 mbit connection.

Comment Re:Linux audio (Score 1) 374

Pulseaudio is a bit strange, but nothing requires it's use, and IMHO there is no real reason for it to be used unless you want to do somewhat strange things (that you generally can't do on any other type of OS).

Like per-application volume control that no other OS provides (except Windows Vista and higher, Mac OSX, etc)?

Comment Not recently ported (Score 2, Interesting) 117

This Penumbra trilogy has been on Linux for a while, the first game ran on linux somewhere in 2007 iic, so it's definitely not recently ported... the only news here is that it's perhaps cheaper now, so it's a nice slashvertisement.

That being said, these games are pretty cool if you like survival horror / adventure games.
