According to the SSA https://www.ssa.gov/budget/FY1... budget page they spent $850 billion in 2013. Even if spending stayed the same that would be 1.7 Trillion in 2 years. This is not including other public assistance programs

The food stamp program is $74 billion according to this story http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/...

According to http://www.reuters.com/article... the iraq war has cost roughly 2 Trillion. So the GP is correct.

Actually I found a better website http://www.usgovernmentspendin... If you add up the Pensions (which the lions share is SSA), Health (Medicare), and Welfare, You get a total spend of 2287.5 billion spent on social welfare programs.

Considering that our total 2015 budget was 3,650.5 billion, that means we spent 62% of our budget on welfare programs. If my math is correct.

Now look at military spending for 2015 and it is 820.2, smaller than either SSA, or Health spending. and only 22% of the budget. If my math is correct

You did not give an exact quote so it is easy to misunderstand. Here is an exact quote

Security. Information that’s required to help keep Windows secure, including info about the Connected User Experience and Telemetry component settings, the Malicious Software Removal Tool, and Windows Defender. This level is available only on Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise, and IoT Core.

My understanding is that "info about the Connected User Experience and Telemetry component settings" is only going to provide info on what settings you chose, so if you chose the security setting, Microsoft will know.

enterprise users can turn off telemetry. Everyone else only gets to set it to basic.

Manage your telemetry settings You can manage your telemetry settings using the management tools you’re already using, such as Group Policy, MDM, or Windows Provisioning. You can also manually change your settings using Registry Editor. Setting your telemetry levels through a management policy overrides any device-level settings.
You can set your organization’s devices to use 1 of 4 telemetry levels:

What right is being denied? The last time I looked the "Bill of Rights" didn't have anything in it about medical care, or marriage, or many other things. However, it does guarantee the free exercise of Religion.

I think the problem is that we believe that everything is a Right, And this is perpetuated by our government

  • Right to have Internet
  • Right to have a Cell Phone
  • Right to get Married
  • Right to have medical care
  • Right to have a house
  • Right to ... {insert your special interest here}
  • These are all made up, they don't exists and are not protected by the constitution. The sooner we accept this the happier we will all be.

A laptop that can run multiple vm's for less than $240? I think this is B.S. Also are you running your entire network off that one laptops WiFi? It seems that the only way to wire it into your network would be to get a usb to ethernet adapter since most laptops don't have dual NICs.

Comment Sophos UTM (Score 1) 247

I have been running my own router/firewall for years, and I will never go back. Mainly I run it on an old dell desktop I picked up online for $75. I used Untangle as the OS for a couple years, but they don't offer many features in the free version, and their paid version is way too expensive. Then I found Sophos UTM and in there free version they offer everything, just limit the number of devices to 50. So far I have had no problem with that limit. I am really happy with the performance even on my old desktop. I will probably upgrade it to use newer, more power conserving hardware, but that is not a huge priority because power is cheap when I am.

For wireless I run a couple of access points around the house and I have never had any problems.
