I mean obviously you're clever enough to secure it all, having hand-built the hardware and written the firmware yourself but what about all those other idiots out there? Those games running in BC-mode would have to be tested for compatability, do you think Sony is going to spend the money to have teams sit and make sure some random PS1, PS2 or PS3 game actually runs correctly in their software emulator or doesn't do something worse like crash the console or open a back door into the OS? Or maybe they should just stick the emulators on there and cross their fingers? Microsoft did it because they needed an extra tick box for their console that was more expensive and less powerful, not out of the goodness of their hearts and even then it was only rolled out on a per-game basis as they tested them. The actual number of customers who would actively use BC is obviously not worth the financial hit Sony would take to implement it properly. I simply don't believe this many people were genuinely expecting anything more than PS4 compatability. If they were then they hadn't actually thought it through. More likely people just enjoy having something to complain about (and in some worrying cases be absoulely enraged about) and will move on to something else in a few days. No matter how evil you might think Sony are, they aren't stupid and they haven't been hugely successful in the gaming industry for over 20 years through sheer blind luck.

Not true in the UK public sector, you can "self-certify" for up to 3 days (effectively write yourself a note saying you were too sick to work). Good luck firing someone for being sick for too long or too often, try proving someone wasn't suffering from a chronic mental health or pain problem when you're hauled in front of an emplyment tribunal. Getting a note from your doctor to say you were sick is trivial because not only are they so overworked that they just sign it without even reading the details but they also charge for each letter and that's money directly into their medical practice's bank account rather than from the government so it's very profitable.
