"Absolutely nothing is stopping these people..." - really? Do you have yellow pages or phone books in your house. Do the local businesses in your area use things other than social media and the internet to let potential customers know how to reach them or the services they offer. Newspapers existed in volumes, news programs on radio and tv were less political. They all used to be (or at least did a better job trying to be) independent unbiased reporting. Business operates in the ether now, you can't disconnect and function (employment, business etc) unless everyone does. If your a sales person... you can't go back to the "old ways" of selling things when everyone else is on different tech/platforms/markets. To go back means giving up the activity you love. And we are not saying we don't want the advantages of a connected society but that when society wasn't over utilizing this connectivity, it was simpler and easier to function. its that simplicity of not being swamped that we yearn to have again. It's like a drug that gives you enhanced eyesight but is also an addictive drug that causes side effects if you try and quit. Any addict will tell you they wish they hadn't started to begin with despite the high it provides. It's human nature. When you are young you can't wait to grow up and be an adult... when you're an adult you miss the innocence of youth. This is no different. Sometimes when you have been exposed to somethings, you can't go back. It will never be the same. That doesn't mean you want to be a kid again, but that you want the to see the world through those eyes again.
