Thats not entirely true... It is possible for civilians to own fully automatic weapons, however there are a limited number of them available (nothing produced after 1986, has to have been registered before then), the costs are usually astronomical (12-16k is average for a m-16 style weapon), only certain states allow it, and current wait times to get the paperwork processed is about 6 months. But it is possible... technically.

Warn them to say the hell out of Sysadmining. AKA the place where your considered a cost center, constantly under threat of downsizing, and basically only remembered when you need to spend money or something goes horrifically wrong. I hate to say it but I wish someone had sat me down 15 ago a years ago and warned me out of the whole IT field.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Level Design Lessons 95

An anonymous reader writes with this excerpt from Significant Bits about how the early level design in Super Mario Bros. 3 gradually introduced players to the game without needing something as blatant and obtrusive as a tutorial: "Super Mario Bros. 3 contains many obvious design lessons that are also present in other games, e.g., the gradual layering of complexity that allows players to master a specific mechanic. What surprised me during my playthrough, though, was how some of these lessons were completely optional. The game doesn't have any forced hand-holding, and it isn't afraid of the player simply exploring it at his own pace (even if it means circumventing chunks of the experience)."
