Ok, I forgot /. users tend to rip apart a comment with the same venimosity (if I may create a word) that the media does Janet Reno. I posted this Ask Slash question a while back. My intention was'nt to stand up and yell I gotta bomb and will use it. I'm not a developer, I'm a user/administrator.
There seems to be two 'strains' of thought that came out of this:

1. We hate Microsoft and can't win -- the default.
2. We like file servers.

File servers are nice, but is that all a server can do? I don't know Rick about novell, I've got samba and it works. What I would like to see in a Linux/DS is something that provides file and print services, along with applications that run on remote servers that are EASY to use. Remote X apps could fill this desire.

For file services, if a user want's to copy directories from Server A to Server B from workstation C, witout having to drag files from A to C back to B. NCopy ???

On the application side though, I would like a much easier, CLEANER, more centralized method to exec applicatoins on a remote server. Having just a plain old window popup on my WinNT station, they used to call this transparent.

And folks, stop wasting time slamming MS, we don't love them, we still do need them, but it's almost impossible to hear forward-looking ideas in a roar of slanders. Just my rant, I'll put the bomb down now.
