The problem at Uvalde was not response time. There were plenty of cops there, plenty of guns and body armor. The problem was the refusal of all these tough guys to confront the shooter.

Musk is one hundred percent correct on this, it should be our number one priority as a species. Heâ(TM)s giving us the means to move significant cargo to Mars, everybody on earth should take advantage of that.

I just watched a Falcon9 booster land for the 22nd time IIRC. After engine shutdown it tipped over and had to be towed to recovery. 22 flights. All the contractors who helped get us to the moon said you could not re-use a booster. Could not be done.

Corporations are agreements between society and investors. The purpose is to provide jobs, produce useful products and services, and pay taxes, to off set the costs to society - pollution, necessary regulation, use of the common good. When these corporations offshore the jobs and dodge the taxes, they are simply creating the harms to benefit a relative few wealthy insiders. No longer a good deal for society. Time to renegotiate.

A bunch of vastly overpaid corporate leaders have made sweeping statements about a lack of productivity in WFH. None have provided a shred of actual proof, including the ones in actual data science. More guys with limited expertise who think their opinions on other matters are invaluable.

My mom worked for an insurance company, she overheard her supervisor talking about staging his house for sale. A co-worker had overheard another executive talking about house hunting. The CEO did an all-hands meeting to quash the rumors the company was moving its offices to another state. Then the company moved its offices to another state.

And the CEO class is full of people like Zuckerberg trying to appear human and normal, when in fact they have no feelings for anyone, including their own families.
