Reading something like this makes me want to subscribe to the Tivo service out of spite.

It sounds like people in the advertising industry are just whining about their own obselence. Hey, maybe someone will find out their services are over-priced and mostly produced by posers and cannot be proven to deliver results in any quantitative manner. I think the real reason they hate Tivo is not that it shows consumers skip over commercials, but for once there is pretty hard data about which commercials get skipped over: almost all of them except for some beer ads. This essentially gives advertisements a rating system, something that horrifies 75% or more of the industry because they are all banal, worthless, humorless and ineffective hacks.

This just in from Ad Age: people who don't watch compilation tapes of the best commercials of the year don't know what they are missing!
