This has been the bane of the Internet since inception IMHO. So long as OPT-OUT is the standard for using the Internet, personal information security is but a joke. Our personal information is traded as a commodity and nothing that any government agency does that doesn't put Opt-In as primary legislation will change that.

I didn't care for Sprint or Nextel personally but I know several people of whom Sprint attempted to force-feed their service to after the merger but didn't want and/or like the Sprint offerings so they dumped Sprint altogether. Not a surprise that their customer base is dwindling.

Since the pricing is ridiculously high for service, it's a no-brainer! Broadband is priced too high for a lot of households to justify getting it. Food, mortgage/rent, fuel, clothes, utilities... a lot of people are doing well to just survive.
