The way our service (and other similar services) is set up gives workers the platform to volunteer for a job. No one forces them to bid. But there are certainly arguments for and against the system as you stated, and it's particularly hard to argue against the system when it overwhelmingly works for those who make thousands of dollars. Even those who aren't pulling in the big bucks manage to earn a sustainable living -- and I'm speaking from experience here. It really depends on what a person is willing to do. I would never work on a per-penny basis and I know you wouldn't either, so I wonder how the conversation would shift if we directed these questions toward the worker rather than the employer.

Hi adamofgreyskull, Just so you know, workers can bid on jobs of their prefered price range by customizing the vWorker (Rentacoder) site to filter out Projects that they aren't interested in. Projects that don't meet their filters -- such as a certain price range, will not show up on the site, nor in their daily newsletter (if they've chosen to receive it). -Nicole
