Well, well. I had expected, as a new member of the Slashdot community to be subjected to some amount of 'flaming', but what a surprise it was to find that the first flame should come from none other than myself.

If you, or rather, if I had been reading closely, the fact that copious free time was rendered in italic would have been a clear signal that this phrase was not of our own making. Indeed, in an attempt to 'fit in' here in my new home I had made deliberate use of this well known hacker idiom. I resent that I should take issue with this usage.
