In that case, feel free to respond to a cultural translation: "Dublin Asks Google Maps For Fewer Right Turns"

And that wouldn't be needed, as over here if a pedestrian has a green man, then any relevant traffic will have a red light. It must be a crazy American thing to give 2 conflicting streams a green light at the same time.

No, he can't watch Dr Who on the iPlayer because his IP is showing up as Irish, and Ireland (aka Eire, aka Republic of Ireland) is not in the UK (not since 1922). iPlayer is for UK residents only.

Former Sega Employee Reveals Sega Pluto Prototype Console 79

An anonymous reader writes "A new Sega console has been revealed, albeit it an old one that never made it past the prototype stage. The console is called the Sega Pluto, and apparently only two prototype units were ever made. As for what's inside the Sega Pluto, it looks to be a modified Saturn that includes the NetLink 28.8kbit/s modem as standard. It allowed Saturn consoles to be linked up using a dial-up connection for multiplayer gaming. A disc has also been found by another user that is an internal Sega Saturn CD-R that holds a terminal specifically for Pluto."

Oh FFS! Virgin Birth != Immaculate Conception.

I've seen this in numerous places over the last few years. Virgin Birth means there was no sexual intercourse involved in the conception.

Immaculate Conception refers to a particular doctrine of the Catholic Church, which meant that Mary, Jesus' mother, was shielded from original sin when she was conceived, and she was conceived the old fashioned way, with no announcements by any angels.

Time to start installing Linux on your PS3?"

Submission + - FBI invited to look at Second Life casinos

UnanimousCoward writes: Yahoo! is running an article reporting that Second Life has invited the FBI to tour their casinos, and that the FBI has indeed visited but will not comment. With the U.S. crackdown on Internet gambling, visits to Second Life casinos has increased (using Linden dollars that have been exchanged for "real" currency). From TFA:

Most lawyers agree that placing bets with Linden dollars likely violates U.S. anti-gambling statutes, which cover circumstances in which "something of value" is wagered. But the degree of Linden Lab's responsibility, and the likelihood of a any crackdown, is uncertain.

The algorithm in question won first prize at the Irish Young Scientist's Exhibition, which is an annual contest in which secondary school students (12-18 years old) exhibit science projects. Last year, the same student came second with another crypto project, and represented Ireland at the Intel Science Competition in the US. The part about the judges not being able to understand the project is true. The judges had to get in a crypto expert to validate the project.

I don't know any details about the algorithm itself, cos I never got a chance to attend. Bugger....
