My friend's drive also crashed and burned. (Score 1)

It was a brand new high capacity drive, this drive must have had the same fault. If you look closely at the pics on the /. link and the vid on youtube, it's the same chip that fries. And also the SAME PART OF THE CHIP. The video is a bit grainy, but you can't deny what's going on with the drive.
