Comment Re:Ok since everyone is telling stories (Score 1) 730

When I was back in my early 20's, I used to share a squat with about 10 other people.

None of us worked. Most of us played Runequest or D&D all day, and drank beer.

If we didn't feel like playing RPGs, we often had problems thinking of things to do. Actually, we could think of plenty of things to do, but we had difficulty making the commitment of actually DOING them.

Eventually, we came up with a solution, involving a d20. We would write down 20 things to do, and roll the dice to decide which thing we would do.

Some of the things to do would be ordinary things like "read a comic book", or "go to Jeremy's house". The "1" or the "20" would always be reserved for "critical hits" or "fumbles". The "critical hit" would be something like "buy lots of beer and drink all day", and the "fumble" would usually be something like "get a job". (I actually had the misfortune of rolling "get a job" once, and got a job at a convenience store that very day. Didn't last long.)

One time Andrew was rolling away at the dice when he suddenly got up and punched Jason very hard on the arm. Jason said "What the hell did you do that for??"

Andrew said "Sorry, I rolled it."
