Exactly - I don't think it is necessarily ignorance that is the outcome but quite the opposite. I think we are now exposed to news on a global scale and at a much faster pace than ever before. I prefer to get my news this way as it allows me to pick and choose what is important to me. Why let a channel dictate what is newsworthy?

Totally agree with this analogy. Unfortunately there is no one out there to stop Steve from testing the waters with these new restrictive innovations. The bottom line however is that consumers will speak with their hard earned cash and the cult of Jobs will grow. No matter how much we hate on their latest gadget it will be a success and the best we can hope for on this front is an improved spec sheet for version two next year.

This is social engineering at its finest - preying on the weakness of the human condition. We are not all stupid but a large percentage of us could stand to think things through a little better.

Some people don't have the option of not warming their cars up before driving. I used to live in the northern extremes in Canada and would have killed for an automatic car starter up there. We used to use block heaters and always had to remember to plug it in or else no one was getting to work or school the next morning. Nowadays I live in a slightly warmer climate but still see the advantage to starting your car ahead of time. These days it is all about convenience. I do however think the real point of this article is that you can do this by hacking a prepaid phone to do the dirty work.
