I'm in the same predicament as you, I have been talking to some of the professors. Last year it was 6 master students, this year it will be atleast 35 applicants. So master studies are a little more popular now ;)

Submission + - Masters or not? 2

mx12 writes: With the semester finishing up, I have been thinking about my education future. I am currently an undergrad in computer engineering and I am thinking about getting my masters. I have a year left in school, and most of my professors seem to think that getting a masters is a great idea, but I wanted to hear from people out in the working world. If I could get my masters paid for by the lab I work in, is a masters in computer engineering better than two years of experience at a company?

Thanks everyone!

Comment Why not use mail? (Score 1) 209

Why not use a cronjob, that checks what you can update on your system, and mail it to you? Then you will always know what packages you need to update. And the update job can be done with scripts. Like someone else her wrote. Just have a master server, or maybe two, one for each distro. And they can give out the scripts to the machines that needs them. At least you can use that for the less "important" updates. Just my thought on the subject.
