I do not think that word means what you think it means. Unless you've never read any comic books or watched any comic book movies, this is pretty much _exactly_ what you expect to happen to someone who tries to do good.

While I agree that your post is hilarious, it might not be all that far off. I can certainly see Comcast running some sort of automated image-detection algorithm (or outsourced Indian Manual image-detection algorithm) on the feeds, and targeting ads on their highjacked DNS pages to what would become an *extensive* database of your brand tastes.

Not that I disagree with your philosophy, but this is rather like saying "Don't develop for real-world conditions. Develop for our theories! I don't care that the real world doesn't conform to our theories, it really should." and then being surprised that whatever you're building doesn't actually work.

Keeping Pacemakers Safe From Hackers 167

An anonymous reader writes "Researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control have now developed a scheme for protecting implantable medical devices against wireless attacks. The approach relies on using ultrasound waves to determine the exact distance between a medical device and the wireless reader attempting to communicate with it." I had no idea that things have gotten so bad that hearts are being hacked.

Swarming Ants Destroy Electronics in Texas 328

AntOverlords writes "Voracious swarming ants that apparently arrived in Texas aboard a cargo ship are invading homes and yards across the Houston area, shorting out electrical boxes and messing up computers. They have ruined pumps at sewage pumping stations, fouled computers and at least one homeowner's gas meter, and caused fire alarms to malfunction. They have been spotted at NASA's Johnson Space Center and close to Hobby Airport, though they haven't caused any major problems there yet."
