Excellent points! You forgot one other point about Quickbooks:

The older versions of Quickbooks allowed you to use Tax Tables that were outdated. But one day Intuit "corrected" this flaw, disabling all tax tables unless you purchase their tax service! The correction came down as a program update. O'h yea, the tax tables were $50/year but after this update they started charging $150/year.

For those that do not know what I am talking about, Tax Tables allow employeers to withold the correct amount of taxes. The rates do change periodically so over time the program will become dated if you do not update. Intuit charges $150 for the updates. The IRS publishes the updates for free .. of course Intuit does not give you a method for inputing your own tax tables. They perfer you give them $150 more dollars.
