Journal Otter's Journal: A new contender for "Web Sites That Suck" 7

Possible explanations for this site:

1) I've suddenly developed cataracts

2) It doesn't render right in IE

3) The designer has invented some sort of anti-anti-aliasing for text display

I do like that Ken's Salad Dressing, though. At least, I think that's where it says he works.

Update: It turns out to be 2). Sorry about that, Csy! I feel bad for unfairly trashing his site, but at least I showed more interest in his career in salad dressing than most people do!

It's XHTML; does IE even know how to parse XHTML?

As for anti-anti-aliasing, GTK2+XFT+Bitstream Vera+Firefox renders it fine.
  • Haven't used IE in over 4 years. Haven't been infected with virus, site phishing, nor trojans.

Stick with Firefox as I have and you'll be happier.

That site is the epitome of XHTML perfectionism.

Anyway, Dept. of Homeland Security as declared IE unsafe, so do yourself a favor....

    • Yup, I went home and tried it in Mozilla and Konqueror, and it's fine in both. IE did something crazy with it.

Believe me, if my job didn't force it on me, I certainly wouldn't use that train wreck of a browser. Tom Ridge or no Tom Ridge.

Hey - that's my site. It's a little bright but I didn't think it was that bad :) Firefox/Mozilla and IE 6 should render it OK... This is what it should look like : http://www.whois.sc/nerdle.com [whois.sc]
If it sucks on IE 5.5 or other old crusty browsers then I'm fine with that.

Sorry about that! I'm home now reading it in Mozilla and it looks fine. The text was horribly fuzzed in whatever IE they give us at work.

Be all that as it may, I am a big fan of your salad dressing! There's a bottle of the ranch dressing in my refrigerator right now.

Hey - no problem. And thank you for your support. (and buy Sweet Baby Ray's barbeque sauce while you are at it. hehe.)

I vote for 2. I'm using Safari, and it looks fine to me.

If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, then the first woodpecker to come along would destroy civilization.
