Agreed. Of the strips currently out, Foxtrot and Dilbert are by far my favorites. I enjoy Opus on the weekends, but Bloom County was what really hooked me on comics. Calvin & Hobbes and the Far Side continued that fine tradition and I really do miss them. *sniff*
If you are interested in sick, twisted, (and not a little disturbed) and LOL funny, then I'd recommend the web comic Chopping Block [choppingblock.org] which details the life and times of Butch, your run of the mill psycho serial killer. Lee Adam Herold's up

Lee Adam Herold's updates are occasionally hit and miss, but there is an entire archive that goes back to July 2000 (the start of which is where the link takes you).
Frazz [comics.com] is occasionally amusing, and tries to be a bit Calvin-esque at times.
I have a server on my desk at work that I don't use much, so I have the screen saver set to randomly rotate through Calvin & Hobbes strips. Eagerly looking forward to The Complete Calvin And Hobbes [amazon.com] as my current books are in very "well-loved" condition now.
