Common defense against AI, David put it in in in case it goes rogue. though Deck had more selfish reasons.

From https://www.shamusyoung.com/shocked/index.php?0 A good fanfiction novel of the system shock games

He didn't like that Shodan knew who Deckard Stevens was. Even worse, it linked him to his bogus employee file. He thought about the night in TriOptimum building and how much influence Shodan really had. When his deal with Diego was over, he wanted to vanish back into the Undercity without a trace. Shodan was a threat to that. If Diego wanted to, he could probably find him again with the help of Shodan. Deck decided he wanted some insurance. He thought about what Diego had said days earlier- that when presented with an unethical thought, Shodan couldn't even store it. Deck added a new filter to NULL_ETHIC. It would examine incoming messages for information relating to Deckard Stevens or employee 2-4601. Anything related to him or his work on Shodan would be flagged as an "unethical" thought and fail the EC challenge.

In effect, Deck had replaced Shodan's entire ethics system with a single rule: "You may not know or think about Deckard Stevens"

Shodan would have the memories of the night it helped him out of the TriOptimum building, but would be unable to access them. Shodan would be able to see and speak with Deck, but it would never be able to know who he was.

We are an advanced civilization

How can you possibly make that declaration?

People in the 19th century thought the same thing, with their mind boggling inventions like steam power, electricity and the light bulb.

That's not even mentioning our advanced civilisation geopolitics like poverty, war, hatred for the other tribe etc

You are generalizing to the extreme here. "Every parent on the planet, including all athiest and left leaning parents, when educating their child about religion, is automatically attempting indoctrination, and were explicitly trying to be as unbalanced as possible"

Also are parents "Likely" to give unhelpful advice about sexuality? This may shock you, but shitty parents are thankfully in the minority, the internet amplifies the crazies.

Your entire comment read's like it was targetted at a very specific person or group you have an unhealthy obsession with. If you ever have children, would you be willing to automatically relinquish all input about religion or sexuality to the state, because after all as a parent you are biased, stupid and corrupted.

The idea on the rise lately is that all parents are so morally reprehensible and so stupid that they cant possible provide any moral or cultural guidance anymore because we've decided its de facto tainted, children would be better off being wards of the state and sent to facilities to receive the 'correct' education.

Can you please list the topics that parents are worthy of educating their children on in this new world order?

Imagine how much political heat and public discourse would be generated if you took mens faces and pasted them onto ugly fat unflattering bodies with a micro dick and spread them around.

I would guess suddenly a whole lot of people would have a big problem with the technology and its application.
